Helping the project developer meet an expedited schedule requirement, Urban Pacific Construction, Inc. completes the demolition phase of the site ahead of schedule.
San Luis Obispo, CA September 18, 2009 -- Urban Pacific Construction, Inc. (UPCI) - a California-based general contractor, has completed the initial phase of construction on the Vaquero Mixed-Use Project in downtown San Luis Obispo, CA.
Continuing it's execution orientated approach, UPCI worked closely with the project developer, Santa Barbara-based La Playa Properties and the City of San Luis Obispo to demolish a portion of the project site in preparation of project build out. The project is expected to begin full construction in 2010.
"We have identified the Central Coast market as one of our primary growth markets going back nearly 2 years. We are a general contractor that focuses on urban infill, mixed-use, and affordable housing communities, and this project is a perfect example of the type of project where we can add tremendous value in the construction arena." says Scott Choppin, President of UPCI.
In order to expedite the start of construction, UPCI was instrumental in bypassing the normal air quality control district 10-day notice period by working with the city to obtain a waiver for the notice period.
"La Playa Properties and the city were both extremely anxious to start the work, we were able to coordinate between the Air Pollution Control District and the city of San Luis Obispo to avoid a significant delay to the start of the work. This is exactly the type of proactive solution that we deliver to every project we work on." notes Mr. Choppin
The Vaquero, a 33-unit mixed-use residential and retail development, is located at the corner of Marsh and Nipomo Streets in downtown.
